K-LAGAN GreenIT

K-LAGAN GreenIT

GreenIT reminders

We’ve already written several articles on GreenIT, addressing the definition of GreenIT, the RGESN and how we’ve made it our own to improve it.

GreenIT is a « continuous improvement approach that aims to reduce the environmental, social and economic impact of digital technology»
source : greenit.fr

GreenIT is obviously concerned with environmental aspects, but not just that! It also covers social and economic aspects.

If you’d like to take a closer look at GreenIT, you can start by consulting the following sources:

  • Environmental impact: We recommend the work of the French public agency ADEME, associations such as the Institut du Numérique Responsable and Boavizta, and the RGESN standard.
  • Societal impacts of digital technology: as a first step, we recommend that you consult the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and accessibility standards such as WCAG, RGAA and RAAM. You can also consult the general media to keep up to date with the societal impacts of digital services.

You can also follow the work carried out by the Sustainable Quality group (in which I participate).

At K-LAGAN, GreenIT is central to our vision.

Our vision of GreenIT implementation

The Agile transformation, which is not yet complete, did not happen in 1 day. Organisations have been working on this paradigm shift in software development for years.

One of the main reasons is that this transformation is based above all on a change of paradigm, a change of mindset. Just like the GreenIT transformation, towards sustainable quality.

A GreenIT transformation means redefining priorities by thinking about the materiality of the software, the human element (users and creators) and, as in Agile, the real value delivered when building digital services.

In order to achieve this, we are convinced, thanks to our experience in the field of transformations, that it is essential to ensure a smooth change within a clear process with precise objectives that can be achieved step by step.

The first step is awareness and training. To this end, we provide training in Sustainable Quality.

Secondly, it is essential to put in place a GreenIT approach that is adapted to the context of the organisation. To do this, our coaches, specialists in quality transformation, will work with the IT department or the Green working group to integrate a personalised approach.

Finally, with a view to continuous improvement, it is particularly important to be able to measure progress. This is obviously done with the Coaches, and the introduction of practices and indicators. We also provide an Environmental Audit that leads to the Envi’Score, which rates the environmental impact of a digital service and prioritises actions to reduce that impact. We also provide a more comprehensive GreenIT audit that includes societal concepts.

Conclusion

GreenIT is a transformation, and like any transformation, it’s important to be able to count on support if you want to be as effective as possible. It is with this vision that we at K-LAGAN have built our various GreenIT offerings, which draw on our expertise and the knowledge of our specialist consultants in the field.
